Jacob’s message |
Jacob
is a rapidly growing group that specialises in industrialised
wooden structures. Our story started nearly 80 years ago
so our company has a rich history and has developed values
over those years based on a carpenter’s common sense
combined with a taste for initiative and independence.
Proud
of our achievements and keen that they last we nevertheless
want our company to evolve by adapting to the needs and
realities of the marketplace. A necessary evolution, in
a totally new context for the construction industry where,
from now on, unavoidable factors will have to be taken
into account for decades to come: saving energy, thermal
resistance, use of natural, renewable materials, reducing
construction time, European standards or training in new
trades for both men and women. The changes brought about
by these fundamental trends are part of daily life for
each of us. They open up new perspectives by profoundly
changing building and so the whole chain of construction
that has prevailed until now.
Because
our markets, within the enormous world of the construction
industry, are following these new ideas, the Jacob Group
is reforming its own market by bringing new, appropriate
and competitive answers within a logic of added environmental
value and therefore offering sustainable development.
Jacob now has two distinct industrial branches: Jacob
Structures Bois for one part and Pobi (Industrialised
Wooden Panels and Frames) for the other part. Two branches
set up with the same goal: to be the recognised specialist
in industrialised wooden components for the construction
industry, on a scale that extends far outside our own
country.
While
Jacob Structures Bois continues its progression in the
industrialised wooden roof trusses market by aiming for
5000 housing units in 2009, it is also reinforcing its
range by offering traditional roof timbers also delivered
in kit form.
As
for Pobi, its spectacular technological evolution in only
a few years enables it to offer finished industrialised
components destined for the construction of individual
houses, social housing, professional premises, and collective
buildings both private and public. These industrialised
wooden components leave the factory totally equipped:
walls, floors and roof elements in pre-fabricated panels,
integrating joinery, locks, insulation, wiring and exterior
and interior finishings. By soon becoming the first company
in France and the second in Europe to have the CE Mark
for these components, Pobi is a real leader in providing
solutions for pre-fabricated wooden framework, walling
and covering for buildings.
All
these developments put The Jacob Group in line with its
time. Refusing inactivity and ‘a wait and see’
policy synonymous with the degeneration of a business,
we will continue to seize all the opportunities which
present themselves to continue our development, conscious
of our strong points and our ability to adapt to new challenges
and new markets. I accept these fundamental choices and
will make sure they are put into practice with the rigour
and prudence that has characterised our company for 3
generations.
